Talk Title: Failure; a building block

Synopsis: Failure is an integral building block of resilience. Even though most failures are avoidable, they still happen regularly. No industry, level of training or amount of experience can exempt you from failure. By examining failures that have occurred, we can learn a lot about what not to do, both technically and procedurally, to prevent future failures from happening. This session will look at software and engineering failures and discuss what went wrong, what corrections were made, and what lessons we can learn to prevent future failures from occurring.

Speaker Bio: Nicole Imeson is a mechanical engineer from Calgary, Alberta specialising in the construction of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems throughout Western Canada. Since 2020, she has hosted and produced a podcast about engineering failures called Failurology.
